Good news, caf-fiends -- you might finally be able to justify that five-cup-a-day habit of yours. Researchers at Harvard University's School of Public Health recently concluded "higher consumption of total coffee, caffeinated coffee and decaffeinated coffee was associated with lower risk of total mortality," as well as decreased risk of death from diabetes, cardiovascular disease and suicide.
The report, published in the journal Circulation, studied 200,000 coffee drinkers. Nonsmokers who drank three to five cups of coffee per day had a 15 percent lower death rate.
So how to celebrate the good news? Why not try out one of Atlanta's many excellent coffee shops, find out what the pour over craze is all about, find out about six places to buy coffee beans in Atlanta and find out how to brew the perfect cup of coffee at home.
We'll just be over here, dreaming about the beerspresso we'll be indulging in after work. If coffee is now good for you, hopefully beer isn't far behind? That's what we'll tell ourselves, anyway.
