A Decatur spot for cooking supplies and wine will close early this year after more than a decade in business.

The Cook's Warehouse and Sherlock's Wine Merchant announced they will not resign their lease 180 W. Ponce de Leon Ave. when it expires on Feb. 28. The store was open since 2005.

Cook's Warehouse founder Mary S. Moore addressed the closure in a press release:

“This location has not kept up with the growth of our other stores and is currently our highest occupancy cost with an increase on the horizon. While we both searched in the Decatur market to find a new location we both found strategic opportunities in other markets. We will continue to be on the lookout for an opportunity that will allow us to return to Decatur."

Moore will open a new Cook's Warehouse location at the Peachtree Station Shopping Center at 5001 Peachtree Blvd. in Chamblee in late spring.

Douglas W. Bryant, owner of Sherlock's Wine Merchant, recently opened a Sherlock's location in South Buckhead at 1831 Peachtree Road.

"Until I find a great spot in Decatur, we look forward to serving our customers in one of our other Sherlock’s locations,” Bryant said in the release.

Cook's Warehouse also has locations in East Cobb and Midtown, while Sherlock's has locations in Buckhead, East Cobb and Kennesaw, in addition to the South Buckhead location.
