Let's all paws -- excuse us, pause -- for a moment to reflect on a piece of news that has us feline feelin' fine -- Atlanta is getting its own cat cafe.
Creative Loafing reports that Atlanta area native April Hill is planning to open Happy Tabby Cat Cafe in downtown Decatur or Poncey-Highland this summer. The cafe, which would serve pre-packaged food and coffee drinks, would have 15-2o cats on hand at a time, all available for adoption. The plan is to charge patrons a $5 cover for the pleasure of being surrounded by kitties while they sip coffee. Hill is also planning to offer classes and hopes to make the space BYOB.
While there are plenty of cat cafes in Asia, Europe and a few spots in the U.S., Happy Tabby would be the first cat cafe in the South.
Here's to hoping the cafe will be -- wait for it -- the cat's pajamas (sorry, we had to).
