Cast Iron to close and other Atlanta dining news from the week

Another restaurant is closing in Old Fourth Ward.

Cast Iron announced its closure on its Facebook page, saying it would bring back its popular bacon cheeseburgers but would be closing in several weeks.

Executive chef and owner Evan Cordes opened the eatery at 701-5 Highland Ave. NE, previously home to Last Word and P'Cheen, in November 2016 . Cordes, formerly of Cakes & Ale, Serpas True Food and the now-shuttered H. Harper Station, was recently named a 2018 Georgia Grown chef.

Former AJC food writer Elizabeth Lenhard called the restaurant "casually brilliant" when she reviewed it in 2017 .

Cordes told Eater Atlanta that the closure was due in part to losing friends and investors in his restaurant who died in a plane crash last September.
