Urban Cannibals has closed temporarily. The cafe and general store, located at 368 5th St., in Midtown, will keep its doors locked while the landlord updates the building to ready it for sale, said Urban Cannibals co-owner and chef Calavino Donati. She said that construction made it "impossible to have consistent hours." A reopening date has not been determined.
Urban Cannibals has operated in its Midtown location for the last year, having relocated from a space in East Atlanta Village that it occupied since first opening in 2009.
Donati and her partner Doria Roberts also own Madre & Mason , a Latin American–Southern fusion restaurant in Morningside, as well as Tipple & Rose Tea Parlor and Apothecary in Virginia-Highland. Both of those businesses are operating as usual, Donati said.
