One of Atlanta's most iconic restaurateurs, Ms. Ann Price, owner of Ann's Snack Bar on Memorial Drive, passed away on Saturday at the age of 72 according to an obituary posted by Gregory B. Levett and Sons Funeral Homes.
Price was the creator of the beloved "Ghetto Burger," made famous as the "World's Greatest Burger" by the Wall Street Journal in 2007. But "Ms. Ann" also was known for her quirky, no-nonsense style and posted "Rules and Regulations For Service," which included "Please Do Not: Curse In Snack Bar." Long lines and wait times were a regular feature of a visit to Ann's.
In 2010, the New York Times reported that Ann's Snack Bar was for sale and the price was set at $1.5 million. "People come here from all over the world, people from every race," Price, told the Times. "Everybody wants to know: what is a Ghetto Burger?"
