Tickets to the new Cirque du Soleil show, which incorporates the story from the James Cameron movie “Avatar,” go on sale Wednesday, Oct. 28, to Cirque Club members, and on Nov. 6 at 10 a.m. to the general public.
The show is called "Toruk — the First Flight," and will be presented at the Infinite Energy Arena in Duluth next summer, June 15-19. You can see a brief trailer for the show at www.cirquedusoleil.com/toruk a spot where you can also buy tickets starting in November.
Cameron’s movie tells of a race of blue-skinned inhabitants of the world Pandora called the Na’vi, and their battle with greedy corporate thugs, dead set on mining the Pandoran woodlands for precious elements.
The Cirque production promises to tell of a time “thousands of years” earlier, when the Na’vi first attempt to ride the giant flying leonopteryx called Toruk. Expect extravagant costumes, high-flying acrobatics and a puzzling tale told in the Na’vi language.
