Following slight drizzle in metro Atlanta, expect a cloudy and dry night.

Earlier, the metro area only “a spot of drizzle” during the afternoon and evening commutes, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The recent rain, however, won’t lower temperatures.

Expect highs to be in the 70s Thursday and Friday with record breaking temps.

The average high for this time of year is 58, according to Channel 2.

Temps were 63 degrees in Atlanta, 58 in Blairsville and 65 in Griffin before 8:30 p.m.

While the rain hasn’t lowered temperatures, it is washing away pollen, which has been heavier than normal this winter.

After hitting a record-breaking 1,289 particles of pollen per cubic meter of air Monday, the pollen count dropped to 387 Tuesday and 140 Wednesday, according to Atlanta Allergy and Asthma.

It’s normally around 60 this time of year, Channel 2 reported.

“It’s still high,” Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said, “but not as high as earlier this week.”

The rest of the week should stay dry, but metro Atlantans could see a 30 percent chance of rain with gusts and mild temperatures.
