Rain has subsided, but that doesn’t mean it’s gone for good.

Expect a 40 percent chance of showers Saturday with a high of 88 degrees, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Light, isolated rain is predicted early in the morning, but a mix of sun and clouds is expected by noon, Channel 2 meteorologist Katie Walls said. Showers should return by 2 p.m. but they aren’t expected to lower temperatures.

The rain trend continues Sunday with a 40 percent chance and highs in the 80s.

Walls said downpours expected this weekend shouldn’t reach the record 1.97 inches of rainfall Atlanta received Thursday. The previous record, set in 1936, was 1.91 inches.

Morning showers Friday prompted a flash flood watch originally expected to last until 2 a.m. Saturday. A break in showers during the afternoon led the National Weather Service to cancel the watch.

Scattered showers and storms could pop up later Friday, according to Channel 2.

The temperature is 87 degrees in Atlanta, passing the expected high of 85.
