After a day of dry weather, rains are expected to return Friday and continue into next week.

Atlanta saw a bright spot Thursday as rains gave way to sunshine.

Currently, the temperature is 52, Channel 2 Action News reported. The city reached a high of 59. The average high for this time of year is 55.

Friday will be a different story.

The day should start chilly and sunny, but end warm and wet, Channel 2 Chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said. There is a 40 percent chance of rain.

“Tomorrow night you better bring the rain gear as you’re heading out,” he said.

Temperatures start in the upper 30s with clear skies, Burns said. The day should stay sunny through noon and reach the low 50s.

By 3 p.m., temps should hit a high of 58.

Enjoy the clear skies while you can.

Showers are expected to roll into the metro area by 11 p.m., Burns said. But the good news is temperatures should be in the low 50s.

Downpours are expected to be in far North Georgia early Saturday when there is an 80 percent chance of rain.

Showers should return to Atlanta by 3 p.m., Burns said. The city should get up to an inch of rainfall.

Another round is expected Sunday, when rain chances are at 80 percent, according to Channel 2. Downpours are forecast Monday and Tuesday at 40 percent.
