Home of former UGA, Falcons player back in shape

The home of former UGA and Falcons player Steve Herndon was hit by lightning in June 2007. He and his wife, Heather, have had all the damage repaired and are enjoying their Dacula home.

A wrought-iron railing decorates the stairs that overlook the living room, making it seem even bigger.

Looking out the living room window from upstairs, you can see the neighborhood lake and nearby amenities.

The kitchen is well used in the Herndon house. Heather cooks and Steve grills.

China that once belonged to Heather Herndon's grandmother is displayed in the green dining room. The dishes were saved from the fire.

The eat-in area of the kitchen offers a great view of the outdoors.

Heather's wedding bouquet is framed in a three-dimensional glass frame on the coffee table of the formal living room. The couple have been married six years.

In 2004, the Atlanta Falcons offensive line, including Steve, was awarded this Offensive MVP trophy made of glass.

Another game ball, this one from Mile High stadium.

This is Steve's Denver Broncos retro jersey, which he wore in the Dallas/Broncos game.

A football signed by Larry Munson, legendary voice of the Georgia Bulldogs, has its own display case in the basement.

Georgia football photos and memorabilia adorn the basement kitchen/bar.

Steve's Bronco helmet sits on top of the fridge in the basement.

Steve's Bulldogs jersey, a framed picture of him playing at Georgia, and Heather's favorite sketch of them hang at the bottom of the stairs.

The basement bar/kitchen offers loads of counter space, creating a good spot for entertaining.

The home gym boasts plenty of equipment. Asked about his football career, Steve says, "I miss the competitive camaraderie. I thought that's who I was, but that's just a part of me."

Back upstairs, the light plays off the wall in the foyer.

This guest room was the one destroyed in the lightning strike.
