1. Ex-NFL player Aaron Hernandez commits suicide

On Wednesday morning, former New England Patriot and Florida Gator Aaron Hernandez was found hanged in his cell, according to the Massachusetts Department of Corrections. Officials said they discovered Hernandez in his cell early Wednesday morning. Hernandez was in a single cell and hanged himself using a bed sheet attached to his cell window and attempted to block the door, officials said in a statement.

2. Mercedes-Benz Stadium opening date delayed again

Due to issues with the retractable roof and steel work, it was announced on Tuesday that Mercedes-Benz Stadium will delay the opening day from July 30 to Aug. 26. Atlanta United will no longer open the stadium, angering some fans. The Atlanta Falcons are expected to open the stadium when the team plays the third exhibition game against the Arizona Cardinals on Aug. 26.

3. Braves winning streak ends

The Braves lost the first game in SunTrust Park on Tuesday night to the Washington Nationals 3-1. The game ended with the bases loaded and Braves' third baseman Chase d'Arnaud striking out.The Braves (6-7) play the second of the three games against Nationals on Wednesday at 7:35 p.m. from SunTrust Park.

4. Hawks to play Game 2 against Wizards

After losing the first playoff game to the Wizards 114-107, the Hawks have a chance to even the series before heading back to Atlanta to play Games 3 and 4. Game 2 against the Wizards tips off on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Information about where Game 2 can be watched can be found on the AJC.com.

5. Georgia's adds 2018 opponent 

Georgia added Austin Peay, an FCS opponent, to the Bulldogs' 2018 schedule. The game is scheduled for Sept. 1, 2018, according to the UGA website.
