American Shalane Flanagan finished out of medal contention in the Women's Marathon on Day 9 of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games at the Sambodromo Aug. 14, 2016, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Olympic Silver Medalist Shalane Flanagan will race for the first time since the 2016 Olympics at the 2017 AJC Peachtree Road Race.

Flanagan holds the record for the fastest road 10K run by an American woman -- 30:52 at the 2016 Boston Athletic Association 10K.

Flanagan is a four-time Olympian who placed sixth in the marathon at Rio. She will compete in the USA 10K Championships at the AJC Peachtree after recovering from a fracture in her lower back while training for the Boston Marathon.

“I am excited to return to the AJC Peachtree Road Race to run for the national title,” said Flanagan, last raced at the Peachtree in 2015, placing first with a 32:05 finish.

The 48th running of the AJC Peachtree Road Race -- managed by the Atlanta Track Club -- will take place Tuesday, July 4, 2017. With 60,000 entrants, AJC Peachtree Road Race is the world’s largest 10K.
