Championship teams have been decided in each of the state's eight classifications, and now it's time to recognize some of the players that helped lead their teams to titles -- and others who played well enough to be honored as best in the state.

Here’s a look at the AJC’s all-state and all-metro teams as well as the state player of the year.

> All-state: Roswell's Malik Willis and Xavier McKinney were named offensive and defensive players of the year in Class AAAAAAA and Grayson's Jeff Herron was named coach of the year as his team defeated Roswell in the state title game Dec. 10. Read the complete list of all-state players here.

> All-metro: Greater Atlanta Christian quarterback Davis Mills was one of the top quarterbacks in Gwinnett County -- the state and nation as well. Check out the players who joined Mills on the all-Gwinnett team along with the top players from Atlanta/South Fulton, Cobb, DeKalb, North Fulton and Southside.

> Player of the year: Cartersville junior Trevor Lawrence is 42-2 as a starter and has led his team to back-to-back state titles. Read more on Lawrence here.
