Chandon Sullivan became the first player in Georgia State’s short football history to receive an invitation to the Senior Bowl.

Coach Shawn Elliott gave Sullivan the invitation to the game, which will be played Jan. 27 in Mobile, Ala., on Tuesday. Sullivan is a four-year starter in the Panthers’ secondary.  The Winder native is a two-time All-Sun Belt selection. He is tied for the school record for interception (6) and holds the record for passes defensed (23).

Georgia State is off this week. The Panthers (6-3) will host Appalachian State on Nov. 25 and Idaho on Dec. 2. If they win both games, they may take at least a share of its first conference title in football.

“It’s another great accomplishment but it’s later on,” Sullivan said of the Senior Bowl. “I’m trying to win a conference championship. That’s one of the goals I’ve had since I got here. I know I’m going to give everything I got to help my team win this year.”
