St. Louis Rams linebacker Alec Ogletree, who played at Georgia and is from Newnan, spoke to the Atlanta media on Wednesday.

Ogletree is in his first season at middle linebacker for the Rams and he has 80 tackles and one interception.

Here’s what Ogletree had to say:

On the Rams defense:

“We just have a lot of guys that like to fly around and hit. We want to make it tough on offenses to do things against us. We pride ourselves in being a top defense. We’ve come a long way from where we started at.”

On coach Michael Singletary:

“It’s great to have coach Singletary here. He’s been in the locker room with us since the summer. Just having him there and having somebody, with this being my first year as the (middle) linebacker, to have him in the room has definitely helped me a lot.”

On how Todd Gurley is doing this season:

“I mean, he’s still the same Tiger that I know. I meet him the first day at Georgia. He’s not running the ball really well right now. He’s still positive. I think eventually, when it’s time for him to make a play he’s definitely somebody that we look to make that play. He’s a little frustrated, but he definitely wants to be able to run the ball. At the end of the day, he wants to win games. That’s the biggest thing.”

On Atlanta’s high-powered offense:

“Very explosive offense. They have guys all over the field – running backs, receivers, the O-line works really well together. They’ve got one of the top quarterbacks in the league, so they do a lot of great things with how they use their players. And it’s going to be a big challenge for us this week like it’s been for the past few weeks here.”

On what makes Matt Ryan one of the top quarterbacks:

“Just his leadership and how he gets the ball out. He places the ball where it needs to be for his receivers to go get it. He has his running game that’s going really well for him that opens (it up) so he’s able to see the field. His experience in the league – it makes him be a much better player.”

On Atlanta’s tight end group:

“They’ve got a good group of guys at all different position groups. The tight ends are coming along really well, and they’re throwing really well right now. So it’s going to be a challenge for all of us. Sometimes the linebackers will have to cover (the tight ends) and sometimes the safeties will have to cover them. We just have to be able to match up and win our one-on-one battles.
