NFL Network show pays tribute to ’91 Falcons

The NFL Network’s “Timeline” series will devote one of its five episodes in 2017 to the 1991 Falcons team that included the likes of Jerry Glanville and Deion Sanders.

Atlanta finished the 1991 season at 10-6, the franchise’s best mark since they went 12-4 in 1980 and took a trip to New Orleans in the Wild Card Round where the Falcons notched the franchise’s first playoff victory since 1978.

Throughout the 1991 season, the Falcons were cheered on the sidelines by rapper M.C. Hammer, whose song "Too Legit to Quit" was adopted by the team as their anthem that year.

“The ’91 Falcons” episode, will air Thursday, Dec. 7, after Atlanta faces the New Orleans Saints in its only Thursday night game of the season. The episode is described as:

The '91 Falcons – Chronicles the exciting season of the 1991 Atlanta Falcons which head coach Jerry Glanville called "the most fun team ever in pro football." Pro Football Hall of Famers Deion Sanders and Brett Favre, and hip-hop artist T.I. are interviewed.

The “Timeline” series will air throughout the 2017 season following four Thursday Night Football broadcasts on NFL Network with hour-long episodes chronicling seminal moments that formed the NFL's storied past, shape the present and, in some cases, set the stage for the future.
