Falcons left tackle Jake Matthews took the blame for the failed fourth-and-1 attempt in overtime against the San Diego Chargers.

He was supposed to block Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman, who broke throughand stopped running back Devonta Freeman in the backfield.

“I did get a little tripped up, but I think I could have had better footwork on it,” Matthews said on Monday. “It was my fault.”

After the failed attempt, the Chargers went on to kick the game-winning field goal in the 33-30 loss.
