Georgia Tech had sold 3,500 tickets for the TaxSlayer Bowl as of Wednesday afternoon, and athletic department officials characterized sales as brisk.

Sales began with Sunday’s announcement that the Yellow Jackets will play Kentucky in Jacksonville, Fla., on Dec. 31. The athletic department expects strong sales Thursday and Friday.

Thursday is the deadline for ticket buyers to receive priority seating in Tech sections at Jacksonville’s EverBank Field. Friday is the first day that Tech students can pick up and/or buy tickets in person and in groups.

One reason that the TaxSlayer Bowl had interest in bringing Tech to Jacksonville was the relatively proximity of Atlanta and the institute’s alumni base in central and north Florida. The strong finish to the season also figured to bump interest in the fan base.

Tech's allotment is 7,000 tickets. They are at two price points, $125 for club seats and $85 for lower-level seats. The athletic department is also selling a limited number of student tickets at $40 in the lower-level section. More information is available on Tech's ticket website.
