Dawson, a defensive end at Stockbridge, announced his commitment by tweeting a video of himself telling Tech coach Paul Johnson in front of Dawson's parents.

WHAT HE SAID

On why he chose Tech: "I just love the atmosphere. I love Atlanta and that's where I'm from. I love my city. It just feels great and the players, they're just really like down to earth and everybody was really just like a family."

On what was special about official visit: "Everyone is really saying the same thing and I was like maybe they're for real about this maybe this is really how it is. … (They were saying) that after college, the education is the most (important) here and a Georgia Tech degree is a big thing."

On his sister filming him committing to Tech with Johnson: "Nobody knew only me and my sister knew that's why the video is kind of low to the table because I didn't want (anyone to know what was coming.) I told her this morning I came in I was brushing my teeth, and I came in her room, and I told her 'I'm going to do it today. I need you to record it for me.'"
