WHAT HE SAID

On being the first member of Tech's 2017 signing class: "I was offered back in February when I went on a junior day visit, and it only took me really about three or four weeks (to decide on Tech). … It wasn't scary, I just felt like I wanted to take the initiative and start off the signing class. I knew that was going to the school, so whenever I got the offer I just talked it over with my family and they saw everything is in line for me to go there."

On why he chose Tech: "The education of course, that was No. 1. No. 2 was, how far away it was from home. It really isn't that far it's about four-and-a-half hours that's not too bad. I wanted to be at a school where if I have a game, my family could get there easily and don't have to fly out across the nation. I have family close in Atlanta, the football program is excellent there. I feel like that would've been a good fit for me because I could come straight in as the starter. … I wanted to make sure wherever I went in on full ride I could also get playing time."

On potentially being Tech's punter next season with Ryan Rodwell graduating: "I love competition, that's one thing about me. But to start off my career early, and be able to start my true freshman year is what I was kind of reaching for and I know I had a chance to do it. I wanted to make sure I got to a school where I can actually (play)."
