Georgia Tech commit TD Roof and Buford High School could earn home field advantage for the first round of regional playoffs in Friday night’s game against Loganville High School.
Although the Wolves are on a seven-game winning streak, Roof is aware of the danger Loganville’s mobile quarterback and athletic receivers pose.
“My team is preparing for this game with a playoff game mindset,” Roof said. “Everyone is locked in and ready to tee it up.”
In Buford’s last game against Walnut Grove High School, the senior linebacker and kick returner proved how “locked in” he can be when he returned Buford’s opening kickoff for a touchdown in the Wolves’ 38-6 win over a region opponent.
The Wolves’ only loss this season was against Roswell High School in Buford’s season opener, a loss that still stings Roof and his teammates.
“Our first game against Roswell, that was a tough loss, but I think our team has grown, and being a senior with some of the guys on this team, it doesn’t get any better for me than that,” Roof said. “Around Buford it’s a state championship or you didn’t get the job done, so we’re really trying to take that home this year.”
Roof will play one of his last high school games against the Loganville Red Devils (7-1) on Friday night, but won't leave Buford until he graduates in May.
Although Buford allows early graduation, Roof decided to put college on hold until May.
“I only get to go high school once, so I’m not going to wish it away,” Roof said.
