Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson gave a fairly encouraging injury update on A-back J.J. Green, who suffered a right leg injury in the Yellow Jackets’ win over Duke on Saturday.

“I don’t know about (him returning) this week, but I would think this year for sure,” Johnson said.

Green was injured returning a second-half kickoff Saturday. He was helped off the field by trainers and was unable to put any pressure on the injured leg as he left the field.

Johnson was less direct than he was Saturday about the return of B-back Dedrick Mills and linebacker P.J. Davis for Saturday’s game against No. 18 North Carolina. Following the win over Duke, Johnson said that he expected both to be able to play against the Tar Heels. Mills reportedly suffered a concussion during practice last week and sat out of the Duke game while Davis injured his hamstring against Pittsburgh on Oct. 8 and has missed the past two games.

Asked about their potential availability to play against the Tar Heels, Johnson responded, “We’ll see.”
