What to know: Oliver is the only quarterback commit of the signing class of 2017 and will compete with last season's backup quarterback Matthew Jordan for the starting role.

WHAT HE SAID

On his official visit (Jan. 14): "It was pretty fun. I got to interact with a lot of the current players on the team. So that was pretty nice.

On how long it took him to choose Georgia Tech: "Probably a couple weeks, two weeks at the most. … I had interest in West Point. (West Point) and Georgia Tech are like two really good academic schools and I was just weighing the options. The location of Georgia Tech really stood out."

On the battle for starting quarterback: "I feel like he's going to have to compete. I'm not just going to let them have a job. … (To start) would mean a lot."
