Georgia Tech wide receiver Ricky Jeune and safeties Corey Griffin and Shaun Kagawa were named the team’s offensive, defensive and special teams players of the week, respectively, for their roles in the Yellow Jackets’ 35-24 win over Georgia Southern on Saturday.

Jeune had a season-high four catches for 51 yards, all of which produced first downs. Jeune also executed an effective downfield block on quarterback Justin Thomas’ 58-yard touchdown run on the Jackets’ opening drive. Griffin led Tech with 10 tackles, three for loss. Both were career highs. He made one of the key plays of the game with a fourth-down sack of Georgia Southern quarterback Favian Upshaw to end the Eagles’ opening possession of the second half.

Kagawa, one of the team’s most versatile special-teams players, had one tackle, on Tech’s first kickoff of the game.

It’s Griffin’s third selection as a player of the week, including his second this season. It’s the first for Jeune and Kagawa.
