A week after predicting that Georgia Tech would cover the 14-point spread against Virginia Tech, sports betting analyst Josh Nagel made a similar recommendation for the Virginia-Tech game Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium on similar grounds. He projects the Cavaliers to cover the 11-point spread. The spread is too great to not take the underdog, said Nagel, who writes for the sports betting picks website Sportsline.

Virginia has lost three ACC games by 14 points or more, not to mention a 17-point loss to Richmond and an 18-point defeat to Oregon. However, Virginia also beat Duke by 14 and nearly upset then-No. 5 Louisville. That’s the reason Nagel isn’t terribly confident in his projection, as was the case last week with his prediction for the Yellow Jackets to cover against the Hokies.

“It looks like Georgia Tech’s playing pretty well, but Virginia, it depends on which team shows up,” he said.

It continues his feel of the Cavaliers under former coach Mike London, who was fired at the end of the 2015 season and replaced by Bronco Mendenhall.

“They were always a pretty good, physical team, but (London) could never get more than five wins out of them,” Nagel said.
