Georgia Tech kicker Harrison Butker’s final point-after try did more than lift the Yellow Jackets into a 28-27 lead over Georgia. His fourth PAT of the day also tied the school record for most career points at 322.

Butker’s afternoon lacked the drama of his game-tying 53-yarder at the end of regulation in 2014 in the Jackets’ last trip to Sanford Stadium, but all four of his point-after tries were obviously necessary.

He’ll have the opportunity to become the all-time leader in Tech’s bowl game.

The final point of the afternoon capped a superior regular season for Butker that will earn him consideration for what would be his first All-ACC selection. In 12 games, Butker was 11-for-13 on field goals (84.6 percent, which was second in the ACC going into Saturday’s games) and 43-for-43 on point-after tries. He recorded touchbacks on 47 of 66 kickoffs (71.2 percent), including 4-for-5 Saturday. Going into the weekend, he ranked eighth nationally in touchback percentage.

He was particularly instrumental in wins over Boston College, Duke and Virginia Tech. He was also named a team captain, the first Jackets specialist to earn that honor since Jason Bender in 1994.
