Georgia State Panthers to play in Las Vegas tournament

The Georgia State Panthers will face Eastern Washington in the MGM Main Event this fall.

The Panthers are among the eight college basketball teams divided into two, four-team brackets playing at the MGM Grand Garden Nov. 20 and 22 in Las Vegas.

This will be the fifth edition of the annual nonconference tournament.

The brackets, released Tuesday by ESPN, are these (all times Eastern):

Middleweight Bracket 

Nov. 20 @ 11 a.m.: Prairie View A&M vs. Eastern Kentucky

Nov. 20 @ 1:30 p.m.: Georgia State vs. Eastern Washington

Bracket championship and consolation games will be played at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., respectively, Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Heavyweight Bracket 

Nov. 20 @ 7 p.m.: UNLV vs. Rice

Nov. 20 @ 9:30 p.m.: Ole Miss vs. Utah

The consolation game will be broadcast on ESNPU at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 22. The championship game will follow at 9:30 p.m. on ESPN2.

The Panthers will open Sun Belt Conference play Dec. 29 against South Alabama.
