Former Georgia Tech offensive lineman Trey Braun completed an unlikely goal for most who have played his position – running a marathon.

Braun, who took up running shortly after completing his Tech career in Nov. 2015, finished the Rome Marathon Sunday. Under a downpour, Braun ran the 26.2-mile course in four hours, 40 minutes, he said. He had hoped to finish in four hours but started to hit the wall around mile 17.

“I feel great, accomplished, happy to be done,” Braun wrote in an e-mail. “It’s a big accomplishment, both the marathon and leaving the country (first time I’ve done either). Beyond that, I feel tired, sore, cold (there was some near freezing rain for the last three miles), and I also feel like I can do better next time.”

Braun started 34 games for the Jackets at guard, earned a degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA and now works for AT&T in technology operations. Weighing as much as 297 pounds, Braun’s long-distance training has reduce his weight to 240 pounds. He’s the older brother of Tech guard Parker Braun.
