New York Mets farmhand Tim Tebow went 0-for-2 against the reigning National League Cy Young winner, Max Scherzer, on seven pitches that touched 96 mph on the radar gun Monday in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Tebow, who will play on the Mets' Single-A Columbia Fireflies this season, went hitless in four plate appearances against the Nationals, striking out three times. The former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner is hitting .167 this spring with 8 strikeouts in 24 at-bats.

Here is Tebow’s first at-bat against Scherzer:

"That's a tough one up against a Cy Young like that," Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper told the Washington Post. "[Tebow is] trying to do whatever you can to get better every single day, and he's putting in the right work. So I wish him the best."
