Braves reliever Jonny Venters missed most of the 2013 season after undergoing a second ligament transplant surgery on his pitching elbow. Doctors used a graft from his hamstring to repair the ligament and removed a bone spur last season. Doctors had used a graft from Venters’ wrist in the first transplant surgery in 2005, when Venters was a 20-year-old minor leaguer. Venters was expected to begin throwing live batting practice in mid-May and return to the Braves' roster mid-June this season.
