Braves activate Sean Rodriguez, Danny Santana from disabled list

Sean Rodriguez was activated from the Braves disabled list Monday. He’s been out all season recovering from shoulder surgery after a Jan. 28 car accident.

The Braves activated veteran utility players Sean Rodriguez and Danny Santana from the disabled list as expected on Monday.

Infielder Jace Peterson and relief pitcher Jason Hursh were optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett to open roster spots, with the Braves going back to a seven-man bullpen instead of the eight-man unit they’ve used for much of the season.

Santana missed 10 days with a leg infection. Rodriguez has been out all season recovering from shoulder surgery in early February for injuries sustained in a frightening Jan. 28 car crash when a stolen Miami police cruiser rammed the SUV that he was driving, injuring Rodriguez, his wife and their two sons.

More to come on the story after Braves clubhouse opens and manager Brian Snitker addresses the media.

Two months after signing a two-year deal with the Braves, Sean Rodriguez had his left shoulder injured in a car accident in Miami that left his wife and two children hospitalized. (AP file photo)
