Aaron has hip surgery after falling on ice

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Hank Aaron is recovering from partial left-hip replacement surgery that the legendary former Braves slugger underwent Friday night after slipping and falling on ice earlier in the day in Atlanta.

Surgery was performed by Dr. Scott Gillogly, who said it went “very well” and that Aaron, 80, was expected to recover fully and be back to his routine activities in six to eight weeks.

“The entire Atlanta Braves organization have Hank in our thoughts and prayers and wish him a complete and speedy recovery,” Braves president John Schuerholz said.
