Tucker Mayor Frank Auman will deliver the city’s first state of the city address, officials announced late Monday.

The date is set for May 12, one day before the annual Tucker Day celebration.

The address will touch on the progress made in the first year of Tucker’s cityhood, after it was chartered. The speech will also look ahead to some of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

“Tucker has a lot going on in 2017,” Auman said in a news release. “We’ll look forward to updating our citizens and business owners on next steps for our comprehensive plan and the exciting process of assuming responsibility for Tucker’s parks.”

The speech will be part of the grand opening celebration for Tucker’s rehabilitated City Hall Annex on 1st Avenue. The venue houses city meetings and other events.

The festivities run from 1 to 3 p.m., with the address at 2 p.m.
