Update: The restaurant has been reinspected and received an 88. Full report: here.

Original story:

A DeKalb County seafood restaurant failed its recent health check after an inspector found employees under-trained and issues with food labeling.

The Crawfish Shack, located at 4337 Buford Highway, received a 67 on the Wednesday check, according to the inspector's report.

Employees weren’t informed “in a verifiable manner” of their duty to report food borne illness concerns, the report said.

There were no paper towels at a hand sink, and the paper towel dispenser in the bathroom was broken.

The inspector noted that food that had been made more than 24 hours earlier, including gumbo, wasn’t properly labeled.

The inspector also docked the restaurant after finding spices stored on the floor.

Manager Linda Pham said Friday the problems had been fixed and the restaurant is ready to be reinspected.

Restaurants with failing inspections are usually rechecked within 10 days.
