A proposed charter school in the Buckhead area plans to petition the Atlanta Board of Education for approval in April, according to the leader of the school’s launch team.

Atlanta Classical Academy Chairman Matthew Kirby said the school would provide a liberal arts education in grades K-12, with a focus on reading classical books and primary source documents.

The school’s launch team is searching for locations, and enrollment would initially reach about 50 students per grade, he said.

Kirby said he hopes the school board will vote on the proposal this summer.
