An instructor was taken out of the classroom after he was accused of choking a student.

A DeKalb County junior ROTC instructor at a local high school is under investigation after allegations he choked a child during a trip to The Citadel last week, Channel 2 Action News reported.

“What man grabs a 16-year-old by the throat?” father William Bedor asked. “He's a grown man; a retired Lt. Col. (in the) U.S. Air Force.”

Bedor told the news station a group of 37 cadets from Lakeside High School were on a retreat when the chaperone choked his son.

“If I grabbed a child by the throat I'd be in jail, so how is it that this man can grab my son by the throat and it's OK? It's not OK," Bedor said.

DeKalb school officials released a statement:

“An alleged incident involving a Lakeside High School JROTC instructor is currently under investigation. Due process requires that we honor the privacy of all individuals while an investigation is ongoing. Therefore, we are not in position to share more details at this time.”

The instructor has been removed from the classroom during the investigation.
