A 35-year-old Canton man has been indicted on charges of sexual exploitation of children, officials said.

Jonathan David Ellis was arrested July 1, 2016, after police said he had explicit images of children as young as 9 years old on his home computer, Cherokee County sheriff’s spokeswoman Sgt. Marianne Kelley confirmed.

He faces 35 felony counts of sexual exploitation of children related to his alleged possession and distribution of images over a peer-to-peer file sharing program between March and April 2016.

Kelley said Ellis has been out on $35,000 bond since July 14, 2016.

He is expected to appear in court Nov. 14.
