Patrons of The Avenue in Peachtree City will soon be able to add some sipping to their shopping. The City Council voted 5-0 on Oct. 4 to approve a request from the center to become a qualifying location for a liquor license, officially encompassing the area between 200 and 314 City Circle and including the gazebo and traffic circle areas.

Andrew Moth, the center’s general manager, is the official licensee. The center must pay an annual $150 fee for the permit, which will allow the sale of beer, wine and distilled spirits. For-profit organizations and companies that hold functions at The Avenue must also purchase a special event permit for $50 if they serve alcohol. The center has been adding outdoor seating areas and coordinating with its restaurants to allow patrons to consume certain beverages in designated spots.
