While some rain sprinkles hover above Northeast Georgia skies, metro Atlantans can expect to see the sun this afternoon, meteorologists say.

Rain chances are low as that moisture is drying up before it hits the ground, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

Clear skies are a welcome change for those affected by wet weather over the last few days that soaked the ground and uprooted trees.

A tree came down earlier Sunday morning on Dodson Drive in Atlanta and on Saturday an 87-year-old woman was inside when a massive tree fell across her home.

In addition to more sunshine, the humidity is lower and cooler temps are on the way, with highs for the day in the mid 80s, Monahan said.

The current temperature is 80 degrees in Atlanta.
