Henry County to reopen government offices at 10 a.m. Thursday

UPDATE: Henry County officials said Wednesday afternoon that government offices will reopen Thursday at 10 a.m. and all staff should report at that time.

The offices were closed Wednesday because of the snow and ice that gripped metro Atlanta overnight Tuesday.

Henry County Transit will resume service at noon Thursday, but access will be limited to dialysis patients.

In additon, Henry County Senior Centers will reopen at noon Thursday for lunch. No breakfast will be served.

Meals on Wheels will not be delivered Thursday, the county said.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Henry County Courthouse will be closed on Wednesday, becoming the latest closing in the county because of the severe winter weather.

The courthouse was set to open on a delayed schedule, but leaders agreed to close the facility for the entire day around 8 a.m.

The county’s schools and government decided on Tuesday evening to close for Wednesday and all Henry County Transit routes were suspended for today.

Henry County officials said the area received about an inch of snow, which led to icy conditions throughout. Henry DOT treated approximately 25 roads and helped to make sure streets were clear around hospitals and fire stations, county spokeswoman Melissa Robinson said.

The county’s police department also worked a number of traffic accidents overnight and into the morning as conditions worsened.
