Fulton County already has four early voting locations for the 6th District congressional runoff election. But given the wide interest in the race, which pits Democrat Jon Ossoff against Republican Karen Handel, the county's director of registration and elections wants to add more.

Richard Barron expects Fulton County commissioners to decide Wednesday whether they have nearly $500,000 to spend on the addition of two more early voting locations.

The county will hold early voting at the Ocee Library, Milton Library, the county’s North Fulton Service Center and the East Roswell Library. If commissioners approve it, they could also open locations at the Roswell and Alpharetta libraries.

Early voting in the June 20 runoff will begin May 30.

The 6th District race, to replace Tom Price (who became the Health and Human Services Secretary) is widely seen as a referendum on President Donald Trump, who has weighed in on the election in favor of Handel.

Return Wednesday for updates on early voting locations.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
