Marietta schools announced a shortened school day for Friday because of the weather forecast of snow and ice beginning Friday.

Marietta High School and Marietta Middle School will close at 12:30 p.m.; all elementary schools will close at 1:15 p.m; Marietta Sixth Grade Academy will close at 2 p.m.

The wintry weather is not expected to arrive until late Friday and early Saturday.

School systems across metro Atlanta, including Marietta, have cancelled Friday night and weekend activities.

School buses will run the normal routes following the early dismissal time.

School staff will continue to monitor weather conditions and will notify parents of changes via email, text, district website, and social media by 5 a.m. Friday morning.
