Atlanta police are asking for the public’s help to find a man who went missing after a Craigslist meeting to sell a truck.

A friend went with Vicente Cruz, 44, of Austell, on Monday to meet someone about his 1989 black Ford F-150, police spokeswoman Lisa Bender said. The meeting was at 705 South Grand Avenue in northwest Atlanta.

At the meeting, Cruz told his friend to leave because it would take awhile for the potential buyer to check the truck, Bender said. Cruz told the friend he would call her, but he never did.

Cruz was reported missing Wednesday.

The truck was found abandoned in a motel parking lot, Channel 2 Action News reported.

“We processed the vehicle, and we did our due diligence to try to identify the blood,” police Lt. Ricardo Vazquez said at a news conference Friday. “But at this point in time I can’t comment on the amount of blood that was in the vehicle.”

Cruz is described as 5-foot-9, 230 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, according to police. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, gray tennis shoes, green hat and a checkered shirt.

Anyone with information about Cruz’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 or police at 404-546-4235.
