William holds on to the crown in Georgia as 2015's most popular name for boys, but parents have put a new girls name on the throne.

The Social Security Administration on Thursday announced 2015's most popular baby names by state, and Georgia's top pick for girls was "Ava."

The list is based on applications for Social Security cards.

"William" is the most consistently popular baby name overall in Georgia. In 1960 (earliest data available), William was ranked No. 4, and since then has never been ranked lower than No. 7.

The name was No. 1 for the first time in 1998, and has remained the most popular boy name ever since.

"Ava" unseated "Olivia" as the most popular girls name in Georgia.

Nationwide, Ava was ranked No. 4 for girls, while William came in at No. 5. Topping the national lists were Emma and Noah.
