The new Mercedes-Benz Stadium is now part of the scenery from the Castleberry Hill loft.

This wooden shelving unit, which features intricately carved floral details, is a family antique that just won't fit through the living room door. "It lives in the hallways and provides even more storage and conversation as you make your way into the loft," Carrie Burns said.

One of Carrie Burns' favorite pieces frames the loft's entry. She commissioned this linear mural from artist Brandon Morrison (who goes by IBLet) after coming across a similar piece of his on a Castleberry Hill art stroll.

A trio of painted skateboards are another beloved and quirky element in the home. "Those are by a good friend, Chris Hamer, a local artist. He did many pieces in the house, but those are a favorite," Carrie said. Their design complements the red walls, which are painted Barn Door Red by Martha Stewart

At the other end of the entry is a lighted display cabinet. "My sister says that our place is like a curiosity shop," Carrie Burns said. This cupboard, a family heirloom, shows off collected items and family photos that are most dear to the couple.

"We kept finding couches that were 'lofty,' but ridiculously expensive," Carrie Burns said. Trying to fill such a large space and find a piece suitable for a two-dog home was difficult, but a burgundy leather sectional from Italia Furniture in Norcross checked off all their boxes and matched the red palette of their living room.

The lady lamp was a gift Steven Burns' mother found while thrifting in Cullman, Ala. "She thought it would be perfect," Carrie Burns said.

This isn't any old midcentury sputnik lamp. Carrie Burns got this piece after trading it for a mirror with designer Brian Patrick Flynn.

The concrete floors were recently refinished, stained and sealed, and the kitchen cabinets were refaced, which Carrie Burns said brightens up her kitchen. The loft is an eclectic escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown Atlanta. This custom shelving unit displays some of the couple's most interesting memorabilia, which can be seen on the Oct. 14 Castleberry Hill Loft Tour.

This ingenious shelving unit, built by a friend, features just the thing needed to keep Carrie Burns' PEZ collection standing -- notches for their feet. She has around 700 dispensers displayed, and often gives away duplicates to friends' children. "I'm going to help the next generation of PEZ collectors," she said. In return, friends call her whenever they find an interesting addition to her collection.

This antique ferris wheel also displays some of the PEZ collection. The fragile piece was given to Carrie Burns by her grandmother.

The 2,000-square-foot residence, which will be on the Oct. 14 Castleberry Hill Loft Tour, is the only unit in Mueller Lofts with a garage door. Their home, which has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, was once the loading dock for the Great Depression-era warehouse.

The centerpiece of the garage door is this mosaic tile, given to the couple as a housewarming gift by a college friend.

The home theater room houses more of the couple's memorabilia, like this one from "The Big Lebowski."

Movie buff Carrie Burns turned this room into a theater. The sleeper sofa ensures the former bedroom still has sleeping space.

Memories and special moments are readily displayed in this loft which has concrete walls and exposed pipes. The lanyards are a collection from events like Music Midtown, the Atlanta Film Festival, Dragon Con and Walker Stalker Con.

This sentimental corner of the loft is filled with treasures, most notably the "Yes" painting. "Another talented friend made that piece," Carrie Burns said. The artist recently died. "I love and miss her," she said.

Carrie and Steven Burns painted the stairs blue and the handrails yellow to draw even more attention to the architecture of their eclectic Atlanta loft. Their decor choices are driven by emotion and connection to the objects that fill their home, like the personal pictures that line the staircase.

Keeping with the blue-and-yellow palette, this "Star Wars' homage in the office was created by neighbor and artist Greg West. The painting serves as a focal point when people walk into the loft. It's just a beautiful piece," Carrie Burns said.

When Carrie Burns updated the bathroom, there was one thing on the beach lover's mind: making it "like an island oasis." The Caribbean blue paint filled the bill.

Steven and Carrie Burns, with their dogs, Watson (left) and Sherlock, have lived in this loft in the Mueller building for a decade. He works for Look Listen as a software developer, and she owns and operates Atlanta Movie Tours. A love of movies contributed to many design choices throughout the home.
