1915 Craftsman now has updated amenities, including a pool

Ashley Derrick said the dragonfly wallpaper and original chandelier set within the coffered ceiling, along
with natural light, took her breath away when she walked into the home. When she and Alison Grounds moved in, they used midcentury modern and
antique furnishings from Scott Antique Market and Kudzu Antiques + Modern, and
painted the walls Sherwin-Williams'¢ Red Barn.

Grounds and Derrick's Craftsman-style home is on the Sept. 9-10 East Lake Tour of Homes. Coffered ceilings and granite fireplaces give the 102-year- old bungalow's living spaces a comfortable, collected feel. On the mantel, the couple
displays original artwork of trees and houses by Tracey Lewis, an Atlanta artist.

The home office is an example of the owners' appreciation for midcentury design. They bought the desk with the house because it was one of a kind, beautiful and functional, they said.

A den was part of the $200,000 renovation and expansion when Derrick and Grounds bought home in 2009. A gray sectional from Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, a rug from Oriental Designer Rugs and vintage lamps from Scott Antique Market, including one that looks like a beehive, create an eclectic vibe.

The blue tile fireplace, original to the 1915 home, stands out against the guest room's soothing neutral walls, painted in Sherwin-Williams Portico. The homeowners fitted the guest space iwith a dash of patriotic decor, a Miles & May bed from AllModern.com, and a chair manufactured by
Rowe Furniture, purchased from Atlanta's Intaglia Home Collection.

In the guest bathroom, the Apothecary's Garden wallpaper from Trustworth Studios is reproduced from the designs of architect Charles Francis Annesley during the English
Arts and Crafts movement. Birds and flowers are depicted in a colorful, childlike manner.

An Asian-style print in the master bedroom originally belonged to Grounds' parents and hung over their sofa. It's zen-like and fun, she said. It works with the soothing Sherwin-Williams Silvermist walls and the bed from AllModern.com.

A lineup of themed rubber ducks is a quirky accessory in the master bathroom. A friend began giving Derrick the ducks when she was in college, and other friends have added to the collection.

When Grounds and Derrick bought their century-old bungalow in 2009, the house had no master suite. GreeneHead Construction transformed one of the
original bedrooms into a master bath and closet. They also used original doors throughout the home.

The Craftsman bungalow's new screened porch looks out on the pool and pool house.

A fire pit, along with seating from Frontgate, gives the new outdoor poolside area even more entertaining and seating possibilities.

Scott Antique Market is a go-to for the homeowners, especially after they found a dog-shaped grill there. Dubbed"Big Bubba Blue," the grill is part artwork and part appliance. It's made out of a Kenworth truck, Derrick said.

Working with Bennett Custom Pools, architect Eric Rawlings and GreeneHead Construction, the homeowners added a pool and pool house in 2016. They wanted the architecture to be modern but also complement their Craftsman bungalow.

An outdoor shower allows people to have a quick rinse after swimming in the pool, which the homeowners added last year.
