Atlanta loses weight (Summer '09)

Kristy Wegert, 36, of Roswell, weighed 250 pounds when this photo was taken in August 2007.

Wegert, in May 2009 at 153 pounds, dropped her triglycerides from 159 to 114 and her cholesterol from 210 to 126.

Ryan E. Spears, 28, of Atlanta, weighed 248 pounds when this photo was taken in December 2007.

Spears, 28, at 197 pounds in this March 2009 photo, says: "My biggest challenge for me was sweets. I love snacks and sugar. Also, I get bored being in a gym, so I change it up and do exercises outdoors."

Brandie Thomas McGhee, 32, of Villa Rica, weighed 230 pounds when this photo was taken in September 2005.

McGhee, at 175 pounds in October 2008, "started off just walking and gradually added in weightlifting," she says.

Dick Jones, 53, of Alpharetta, weighed 220 pounds in April 2007.

Jones (right) ran the Chicago Marathon in 2008 and averages 30-40 miles a week doing training runs.

Sonya Moste, 41, of Fayetteville, with her dog, Sumi, in winter 2005, weighed 190 pounds.

Moste, in Bermuda in May 2009 at 130 pounds, says her "biggest challenge was giving up meat, wine and white potatoes."

Chaunda Walker Walls, 40, of Lawrenceville, at 227 pounds in 2006.

Walls, after losing 101 pounds: "Everything is completely different now. I have been given a second chance at life."

Derrick Williams, 37, of Dunwoody, weighed 305 pounds in September 2007.

Williams weighs 230 pounds after changing his eating habits and beginning a fitness program of running, yoga and plyometrics.
