Private Quarters: Midtown condo showcases contemporary art, amazing view

The painting hanging in this home are rivaled only by the views of Atlanta

Wells admits his obsession is art. His Midtown condo is filled with his art collection, which is made up predominately of contemporary photography.

Much of the furniture in the condo came from Wells' previous home in Buckhead. A new chair and credenza for storage in the living room, which he bought from SwitchModern, blend right in with the contemporary and transitional pieces from his former Buckhead residence.

Wells uses the third bedroom in his condo at as a home office. The space provides the Northside Hospital pathologist with a retreat for study and reading with a spectacular view of the city.

A thick cream-colored rug anchors the home office. Muted tones in the pouf, sofa and chair cushion soften the corner and establish a relaxing space for Wells to read.

A wall of shelves displays small pieces of pottery and sculpture in the home office. The pottery adds an assortment of colors, shapes and textures to the contemporary Atlanta condo.

"I was looking for a space that had a reasonable amount of walls (to hang my art)," Wells said. "That's sort of tricky in big glass buildings with windows and a great view." In his home office, however, Wells has a place for his art without sacrificing those city views.

Wells hired designer Suzanne Williams to create a soft contemporary interior style in his Midtown condo. He brought much of the furniture from his old Buckhead home to his new high-rise condo, along with his large collection of paintings, photography and sculptures. Williams advised him on his furniture selection and lighting, as well as how best to display his artwork.

A brushed steel Rondelle credenza by John Pomp, from R Hughes, adds much-needed storage and acts as a foundation for the vibrant artwork in the dining room.

Wells worked with staff at R Hughes to find contemporary lighting that properly showcases his large collection of artwork and complements his modern Midtown condo.

An enormous 12-foot island forms one side of the galley-style kitchen, which opens to the rest of the condo.

Photographs stand out against the textured gray wallpaper in the guest room. A retro brass chandelier from R Hughes adds a touch of warmth to the cool space.

Simple lines and neutral tones are the rule in Wells' master bedroom. The focal point is the city that lies just outside the windows.

A standalone soaking tub, shades of gray and modern fixtures make this master bedroom a relaxing retreat 31 floors above the streets of Midtown Atlanta.

This condo has a little balcony with a big view. A large wall of windows reflects all of Midtown, making the outdoor space seem much larger.

Stephen Wells bought his 2,300-square-foot, three-bedroom, three-bath condo at 1065 Midtown in 2016. A pathologist at Northside Hospital, Wells had lived in a house in Buckhead for nearly 20 years, but wanted a more walkable, urban lifestyle that was still easily accessible to work.
