Private Quarters: Jordan McAuley

After living in New York City, Miami and Los Angeles, Jordan McAuley's appreciation for Atlanta's natural beauty grew over the years.

Design consultant Alejandra Dunphy worked with Jordan on fitting his tastes to the space. "It's a mix of modern and natural style," McAuley says.

"If replacing brown or cherry hardwood floors, think about going dark. Espresso/chocolate stained floors look more modern and make colors pop," Jordan says.

In McAuley's bedroom, the lamp and deer heads come from laser cut cardboard. "I really like when people take things and recycle them and make them cool for the home," he says.

In the entryway, the deer antlers are from Restoration Hardware Baby & Child. The stag head is made of papier-mache.

"The challenge of my place and all of these modern places is making it cozy. The texture and shapes really help," McAuley says.

Artist Todd Seay transformed a plain white support column - often found in condos - with a faux finish to give the appearance of marble tiles.
